Title: Information to Insight: Learning From One Another
Primary Track: 6-Family Issues
Keyword(s): Families, Early Intervention, Decision Making

Abstract:

Early Intervention is a dynamic process that involves much more than an ongoing exchange of information. There are many facts and feelings that must be conveyed but it can be challenging to do so in a manner that facilitates the development of insight for both families and service providers. This session will provide three terrific tools for checking in with one another, responding with empathy, identifying individual strengths and determining decision making steps. The presenters will explore concrete examples of successful partnerships as well as insights garnered from the application of research protocols for family support. A four minute video will highlight parent perspectives and allow for mini discussions by participant dyads. Professionals from varied fields can utilize this information to strengthen their approach beyond information checking to crucial insight compilation.
