Abstract Information:
Title: Capitalizing on the I in EHDI!
Primary Track: 3-Early Intervention
Keyword(s): early intervention, Part C

Abstract:

Professionals and families often feel that Early Intervention is the great unknown or next big challenge in our model of service delivery for children who are deaf/hard of hearing and their families. This session, set up in a round table format, is designed to engage all stakeholders in discussion on the challenges and opportunities on the EI end of the EHDI continuum. Participants will have an opportunity to listen, learn, respond and react to topics such as identifying what the skill set is for an EI provider and how to define the word “qualified” in the context of services to this population. Another area of focus will center on shared roles in EI and engaging all providers in collaborative endeavors to serve families. Each Round Table will have a moderator with guidelines to promote brainstorming and resourceful “out of the box” thinking, as well as a recorder who will summarize the discussion and “A-HAs” to post after the meeting.
