Abstract:

Optimal fitting of amplification in infants requires accurate determination of hearing thresholds, selection of appropriate hearing instruments, and application of a prescriptive fitting formula designed to provide the infant with full access to speech and other sounds. This session, designed for audiologists, parents, and professionals who work with infants and their families, will describe the essential components of a pediatric hearing aid program. New technologies, including frequency compression and personal FM to improve access to the important high frequency components of speech, will be discussed.
