Dr. Margaret Kenna is an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at Boston University School of Medicine and a Professor of Otology and Laryngology at Harvard Medical School. She is an Associate in Otolaryngology at Children's Hospital in Boston and a consultant in newborn medicine and Affiliate in Otolaryngology at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. Dr. Kenna is the director of Clinical Research in the Department of Otolaryngology at Children’s Hospital in Boston and a practicing otolaryngologist in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program at Children’s Hospital in Boston. She is one of the founders of the Harvard Medical School Center for Hereditary Deafness, which is composed of physicians and researchers at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Children’s Hospital Boston who are interested in various research aspects of sensorineural hearing loss including genetics and molecular biology. In 1995 she helped establish the Children’s Hospital Boston Pediatric Cochlear Implant Program, now the largest pediatric cochlear implant program in New England. Dr. Kenna is the PI for a NIDCD funded RO1 on the genetics of pediatric sensorineural hearing loss. She earned her medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine and her masters in public health degree at Harvard School of Public Health. She completed her residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences and her fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
