Abstract: |
EHDI professionals are often the called upon to provide information and guidance to families as they review the full range of intervention choices in order to determine how to meet the needs of their child. Professionals ensure the accuracy of the information they provide by continually staying up-to-date in their understanding of communication options and intervention approaches. This presentation provides an overview of evidence-based practices specific to the foundation and practice of developing spoken language through listening. Information will be presented on neurological aspects of auditory development; best practice models for intervention and family-centered support; and identification of accurate resources for families to learn more about listening and spoken language for infants and young children who are deaf or hard of hearing. |
