Abstract:

The NHSTC was introduced in 2008 and has been well received. Currently, 2500 copies of the NHSTC have been distributed to stakeholders in 40 states, Canada and Puerto Rico. Hospitals and state EHDI coordinators indicate that the curriculum has been a very useful tool. In its current form, the target audience is the lay screener, but feedback received indicates the need for an expanded focus to include program coordinators and a model for systematic training. This presentation will focus on demonstrating upcoming changes and additions that will significantly improve this resource and make it a comprehensive “one-stop-shop” for hospital newborn hearing screening programs. Participants will be invited to share their success and challenges using the NHSTC and suggestions for future versions.
