Abstract:

This session is for State EHDI Coordinators. Most states have one EHDI Coordinator who serves to coordinate a variety of agencies, not for profit agencies and other organizations as well as manage multiple funding sources. The job is tough and, as evidenced by the number of “new” EHDI Coordinators, there may be significant “burnout”. This presentation will introduce a panel of experienced EHDI Coordinators who have faced a variety of challenges over many years. Four of the longest serving State EHDI Coordinators will share their secrets on how to survive the challenges of state government, continue to move forward despite budget cuts and how to complete 80 hours of work in a 40 hour work week. There will be an opportunity for Coordinators to share their experiences and ask questions of the panel. An interactive session is scheduled that will help Coordinators identify their favorite aspects of their job as well as least favorite and share ideas on how to maximize the resources that they have to make their job manageable and enjoyable.
