ABSTRACT INFORMATION
Title: 'A Collaborative Approach in Improving Data Collection for 1-3-6' Track: 1-EHDI Program Enhancement Audience: Primary Audience: Secondary Audience: Tertiary Audeince: Keyword(s): 1-3-6, collaboration, system, accurate, tracking Learning Objectives: - collaborate with partners to meet the 1-3-6 guidelines - identify ways to streamline referrals - identify partners and link data sources to better facilitate care coordination Abstract: Oregon’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program has transformed processes necessary to implement accurate tracking of hearing screening, diagnostics and early intervention. As part of the changes that were implemented, a collaborative approach was taken by working with the Center for Health Statistics (CHS) and hospitals to develop a system that would promote better tracking of screening results. Hearing screening results have been included in the data collection that CHS collects as part of the birth record. This presentation will review the steps that were taken to implement statewide change; including data collection, revitalized collaboration with partners, and referral processes. The strategic new direction and further needs of the program will be discussed with emphasis on its impact on improving the coordination of all EHDI program components. PRESENTER(S): Bridget Roemmich - Oregon EHDI      Credentials: M.P.A, B.A       Bridget Roemmich is the EHDI Coordinator in Oregon and serves as a board member to the Oregon Hands & Voices chapter. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Florida State University and received her MPA from Portland State University. In 2005 she received an award of Achievement for Outstanding Community Service from Portland State University. She worked for two years in the Peace Corps in Romania for a nonprofit dedicated to helping improve the lives of people with disabilities.
