Abstract: |
Oregon’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program has transformed processes necessary to implement accurate tracking of hearing screening, diagnostics and early intervention. As part of the changes that were implemented, a collaborative approach was taken by working with the Center for Health Statistics (CHS) and hospitals to develop a system that would promote better tracking of screening results. Hearing screening results have been included in the data collection that CHS collects as part of the birth record.
This presentation will review the steps that were taken to implement statewide change; including data collection, revitalized collaboration with partners, and referral processes. The strategic new direction and further needs of the program will be discussed with emphasis on its impact on improving the coordination of all EHDI program components.
