Abstract:

State EHDI Funding Track: Policy, Advocacy and Legislative Issues Authors: Carly Foreman, Vickie Thomson Affiliations: 1) University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado 2) Marion Downs Hearing Center Presenter: Carly Foreman State EHDI programs need to identify ways to fund their programs outside of federal funding for policy development and with the ultimate goal of long term sustainability. A survey was disseminated through the CDC EHDI listerv to determine how state EHDI programs are funded. The survey included the type and percentage of funding from state and federal resources. More specific questions regarding the use of the state’s newborn screening fee was ascertained. States also provided data on what their EHDI program covers in eight different categories ranging from equipment to parent support. States were asked if their EHDI legislation included funding. The question was also asked if the state has audiologists to provide pediatric assessments and how that was funded. This poster will display the results of the survey and seek additional questions for a potential more indepth survey at a later time. Key words: funding, legislation Contact Information: Carly Foreman carly.foreman@colorado.edu
