Title: 'Auditory/Visual Communication ... What Works?' Track: 1 - EHDI Program Enhancement Keyword(s): Communication Modality, Cognitive Development Skills Learning Objectives: Have better understanding of communication modality from a person having superb fluency in auditory and visual communication skills. The presenter will have audience to ask questions regarding how visual people are able to comprehend complicated communication data flow rate at the same rate as auditory hearing people with their communication modality. Abstract: What is the data flow rate of information that a baby with a hearing loss receives in comparison to hearing babies? How is this rate impacted by cochlear implant technology? This presentation analyzes Auditory Verbal Therapy and its impacts on increasing a child's speech and listening abilities during pre-implantation and post-implantation. Egbert - American Society for Deaf Children      Credentials: Experience in auditory and visual communication modality with 150+ words per minute data flow rate.      Other Affiliations: Deaf Bilingual Coalition       I am a Deaf parent of two Deaf children, Clyde, 37 and Stella, 34. Both work at Texas School for the Deaf. Clyde is a technology technician and Stella is an elementary principal. Both attended Gallaudet University, Stella majored in English and have a master degree from George Mason University. I am the founder of Deaf Bilingual Coalition, www.dbcusa.org and also a Board member of the American Society for Deaf Children, www.deafchildren.org. I have served as a parent advocate and also give presentations and motivational speaker across the country.
