Abstract:

Twists and Turns on the Parenting Journey highlights the challenges and triumphs of raising deaf and hard of hearing children. Karen Putz shares the lessons she learned from raising her three deaf and hard of hearing kids and working in early intervention. This session includes 'The Mac and Cheese' story which examines the impact of everyday sounds and the importance of creating an environment with 100% access.

     Credentials: B.S. in Counseling, M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling, Deaf Mentor in E.I., board member and founder of Illinois Hands & Voices, board member and Director of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Infusion at Hands & Voices.
      Karen Putz is a deaf mom of three deaf and hard of hearing kids. She works in early intervention as a Deaf Mentor and as the Director of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Infusion at Hands & Voices.
