Abstract: |
Every year, an early intervention team including family members is expected to develop an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) for every deaf or hard of hearing child between the ages of 0-3 on their caseload. More often than not, the IFSP focuses on language and communication needs. This presentation will provide multiple ready-to-use tools in assessing and measuring those needs, including visual communication, sign language and spoken English, that have been designed for the use with deaf and hard of hearing children. Information also will be provided on various services that could be utilized by the family or school, including for a DeafBlind child. Attendees, including audiologists, speech language pathologists, parents and early intervention professionals will be guided in writing language goals covering both assessment standards and a range of services.
