Track: 2 - Audiological Services
Keyword(s): systems, follow-up, protocols,
Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify how P-D-S-A cycles and data collection can be used to improve program outcomes.
  2. Identify steps to improve quality of reports/communications to parents.
  3. Develop systems, review processes, and analyze data to help identify gaps and solutions.

Abstract:

Correctly diagnosing children with hearing loss, and effectively communicating the diagnosis and “next steps” to parents and early interventionists is crucial for the success of a child’s development. The Wyoming EHDI Program has worked to develop a system to review and provide feedback on diagnostic evaluation reports and has developed, based on the feedback, an evaluation report template. This process and report template, developed out of the P-D-S-A process, is designed to insure parents and early interventionists have needed information and “next steps“ as provided in a usable audiology report. In the presentation we will discuss: a) the use of the template and process; b) the development of the template and review process; c) how we worked with audiologists to begin using the template; and d) the data results from end users.
