Abstract: |
The full implementation of newborn hearing screening in England was completed in April 2006. Over 700 children with bilateral hearing loss and 400 with unilateral loss are identified early as a result of the programme. This presentation will address the systematic collection of outcomes data for deaf children identified through the English NPHS programme, between the ages of 0 to 3 years, in a number of services/programmes where there is already existing good practice in relation to monitoring and tracking the progress. There are eight early intervention programmes involved in this study with over 100 children. The primary purpose of this audit is to attempt to track the language outcomes for this population of deaf children, ages 0 to 36 months who receive support from early intervention services. The use of standardised test scores from the MacArthur CDIs together with contextual information in the form of case studies will be discussed in the presentation. |
