Promoting Cultural Sensitivity in Healthcare

In various healthcare settings, there is a continual learning process and it is necessary to be responsive to the needs of the deaf and hard of hearing community. It is important to keep up-to-date in all aspects, whether a person is a doctor, audiologist, speech therapist, or early interventionist (includes clinical, consultation, leadership, etc.). This presentation will offer the most updated terminology within the deaf community and how it is to be used. This will provide you with knowledge coming directly from the deaf and hard of hearing community and includes how to embrace cultural sensitivity and awareness.

  • Participants will demonstrate culturally competent in healthcare by being sensitive to the differences.
