Parent Advocacy Training Program

Learn about the free, online Parent Advocacy Training (P.A.T.) program for families of children who need educational accommodations. The P.A.T. program helps families feel confident about the process of developing an Individualized Education Program (IEP) in partnership with school officials by providing information, skills, and resources. Families will learn the step-by-step process of developing an IEP, get tips on negotiating, and better understand the responsibilities of the school district and their rights. Offered in English or Spanish, with captions in both languages, P.A.T. is an excellent resource for families transitioning to Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and professionals who are members of the IEP team, or assisting families to develop an IEP.

  • Describe how families can access the online Parent Advocacy Training program and course.
  • List at least two components of the Parent Advocacy Training program that benefit families receiving early intervention services.
  • Describe at least three resources that are available through P.A.T. in addition to the online course.
