Culturally Competent Practices in EHDI

Presented by: Tawara Goode

Although everyone seems to agree about the importance of providing culturally competent practices, most people agree that they need more help doing it. The Maternal and Child Health Bureau funds a National Center of Cultural Competence (NCCC) at Georgetown University that specializes in helping people provide culturally competent services to children with special health care needs. Tawara Goode, NCCC Director, presented a highly-rated plenary session at the 2009 EHDI Conference. This pre-session could build on the material presented at that session and provide more concrete examples and individualized discussion for EHDI stakeholders.
