The Role of a Multidisciplinary Team Clinic in Evaluating Children with Hearing Loss

The Marion Downs Hearing Center (MDHC) has a multidisciplinary team approach for children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing and their families. The Colorado Multi-Disciplinary Program for Assessment, Strategies & Support (CoMPASS) Clinic sees children who have demonstrated challenges in addition to their hearing loss. The team is designed to help those with hearing loss navigate their way to better communication. The team includes audiologists, speech-language pathologist, Otologist, Developmental Pediatrician/Geneticist, Genetic Counselor, Parent Advocate, Adult Mentor, Psychologist, and LEND Fellow Case Mangers. This presentation will discuss the strengths and challenges of a team approach to care and provide specific case examples.
