Importance of Implementing a Hearing and Speech Screening Protocol in Public Preschools

The purpose of this study is to identify, through a literature review and data review process, the importance of establishing and implementing a protocol for public preschools. This study will use data obtained from the KidScreen database of Head Start programs and private schools in the Denver Metro area within at least the last 3 years. It is suspected that this study will indicate the feasibility of a screening protocol, as well as importance of completing screenings at this age. In conjunction with the data review, this will also investigate how to provide information to identify district decision makers to encourage the implementation of a screening at public preschools. The overall conclusion is anticipated to provide information in regards to appropriate protocols, importance of completing screenings, and how to identify decision makers involved with implementing a protocol.

  • Appropriate protocol for age range
  • Impacts of late identification
  • Identify district decision makers
