| Consistent Message in the Refer Process
Consistent Message in the Refer Process
The number one factor in getting families to show for follow-up appointments after a refer on the newborn hearing screen is how the screener explains the refer to the family. When newborn hearing screeners are trained to provide a consistent explanation to families needing follow up after an inpatient refer, a decrease in lost to follow-up will occur. In our presentation, we will review how the implementation of our “Consistent Message in the Refer Process” project has led to screeners who are educated and confident, and in turn, to families who are also educated and confident in the next steps of their baby’s hearing healthcare. As an audiology-based outsourcing company, we are committed to both reducing lost to follow-up, and sharing with others how we are achieving that goal.
- Participants will be able to identify the duty to improve lost to follow-up.
- Participants will be able to identify how a consistent refer message is helpful.
- Participants will be able to identify how improved training can lower LTF.
