From Early Intervention to Graduation...I did it!

I will engage participants in a discussion of my growth from receiving Early Intervention services in infancy to a successful high school graduate. I will discuss how music enhanced my abilities and living a life without limits drove my personal growth. I will share how being dually-identified as a student with hearing loss/giftedness helped me discover my talents, abilities, personal interests and improve my self-esteem. I will share how working towards goals through The Congressional Award shaped me and impacted how I set my goals for the future. I will share my journey and the involvement of my family in that journey, the importance of Early Intervention, and explain how my self-advocacy IEP goals through every year of my education helped me grow into the person I am today, graduating high school with AP courses, college credits and as a valued leader in my school and community.

  • Discover strategies to enhance the life of a child with a hearing difference.
  • List reasons to incorporate music into the life of deaf and hard of hearing children.
  • Discuss reasons to expose children with hearing loss to an array of activities so they can find their preferred activites and experience personal growth.
