DAVID L. LAWRENCE CONVENTION CENTER
| Pennsylvania's EHDI Data Collection and Case Management System
Pennsylvania's EHDI Data Collection and Case Management System
Pennsylvania's internet case management system (iCMS) is a comprehensive data collection and case management system that interfaces with key statewide databases (such as vital records) to serve as a single system of record for the collection, follow up, and reporting of all newborn screening activities in Pennsylvania, including hearing screenings.
The system includes roles for screeners, audiologists, early intervention, family support partners, primary care physicians, and department staff. A record is created for each newborn upon birth, and system rules generate follow up actions based on reported medical results to ensure each case receives timely follow up and necessary referrals.
The system was built and expanded across several years with the partnership of key stakeholders such as early intervention, Family Connections for Language and Learning (Pennsylvania's FBO), and PA's two EHDI advisory groups, and now serves as a single entry point for all EHDI data throughout the state, including custom built reports to provide specific data for CDC and HRSA required program reporting.
- The participant will be able to identify key factors in the development of Pennsylvania's comprehensive case management system
- The participant will be able to describe the start-to-finish process of case management for children with hearing loss in Pennsylvania
- The participant will be able to list key partners, inputs, and data shares that shape PA's case management and data system
