Building Auditory Memory Daily

At Utah State University, parent coaching is an integral part of the Sound Beginnings program. Consistent with the 10 Principles of LSLS, families are encouraged to actively participate in therapy sessions, understand their child’s specific listening and spoken language goals, practice strategies to scaffold certain skills, and explore ways to employ these tools throughout their daily activities. In this 30-minute parent-focused session, we will: 1. Review various listening and spoken language skills hierarchies. 2. Define terms such as critical elements and why they matter. 3. Identifying common home routines and games that can be used to practice auditory recall. 4.Discuss LSL strategies that are beneficial and naturally pair well with such activities. 5. Share video examples of parents and children learning as they work and play together. 6. Exchange ideas and experiences that have previously been successful for participants (parents and professionals).

  • Define terms from auditory skills hierarchies such as "critical elements" and why they matter

  • Discuss LSL strategies that are beneficial and naturally pair well with such activities
