Together We Can Do So Much: Building Strong Partnerships to Enhance the EHDI System, Providing Better Outcomes for Children Birth to Three.

The Oregon EHDI program and Hands & Voices of Oregon have successfully partnered with one another for over eight years. Through this partnership, families are being ushered into the EHDI system quicker and more efficiently. With the help of parent guides, EHDI can expedite the 1-3-6 goals of identification, diagnosis, and early intervention; as well as loss to follow up. Through the use of a centralized database, EHDI and Hands & Voices successfully partner to serve families in a timely manner while maintaining HIPPA standards. Drawing on one another's strengths, EHDI provides an infrastructure where parents can get from point A to point B, from identification to early intervention. Meanwhile, Hands & Voices can tend to the family needs that often affect their performance within the EHDI system, thus improving productivity. While finding solutions to obstacles, parent guides provide empathy during a sensitive time and guidance in navigating the EHDI system from previous experience. This unique partnership is effective and provides families with a support system while they quickly make their 1-3-6 goals.

Amanda is a mother of three boys, one of which is Deaf plus. Having experienced the EHDI system as a parent, she now as a Guide By Your Side Coordinator leads the program and collaborates with professionals in the field. With special interest in collaboration, she works with the Oregon EHDI team, their Advisory Committee, Hands & Voices and her local school district to promote healthy connections and successful children. She holds a certification in Performance Coaching and working with teams for healthy outcomes within their organization or business.
