Florida EHDI's Targeted CMV Screening Lessons Learned
In April 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law Senate Bill 292 requiring hospitals to do point-of-care congenital Cytomegalovirus (cCMV) screening for babies who do not pass the inpatient newborn hearing screen. The cCMV legislation amended section 383.145, Florida Statutes governing newborn and infant hearing screening. The cCMV screening requirements were implemented beginning January 1, 2023. This workshop will highlight Florida’s implementation approach, planning activities, early experience, lessons learned, and continuous quality improvement strategies.
- Increase knowledge of key implementation planning activities.
- Increase understanding of barriers to implementation.
- Gain access to resources to assist with targeted CMV screening.
